FAQ's (Frequently asked questions)

There are loads of questions which go un-answered on Swapitshop, below we have tried to answer as many of them as possible! On some of the questions we have added 'scenarios' to make them easier to understand and more fun to read.

Question: Can I use Swapitshop if I am over 18 years of age?
Scenario: You register your account when you are 16, you have been using the site for 2 years, it is coming up for your 18th birthday, will Swapitshop close your account?
Answer: No - Swapitshop will not close your account. The site is aimed at under 18s, however anybody is allowed to join and use the site. There are no age restrictions.

Question: What happens if I buy a swap, and the swapper does not send?
Answer: When you buy a swap, the person who sold the swap is given 14 days to send the item. After those 14 days have been, the buyer has the choice to cancel the swap (and get their swapits returned), or Extend the swap - This gives the seller an additional 3 days to send the item. If you extend and the swapper still hasn't sent the item, you then get given the same choice again.

Question: I have received a swap in the post, but it is broken, can I get my swapits back?
Scenario: You eventually receive a DVD You have been waiting for, and when you open the box the disc is cracked. You can not use the item, and would like your swapits back, is it possible?
Answer: If you receive a broken/faulty item, or an item not as described, Swapitshop will be able to issue a refund for the item. Usually you have to send back the item so they can check you are telling the truth. They will then refund your swapits. Before returning an item, send an email to info@swapitshop.com to explain the situation. They will be able to give full instructions on what to do from there.

Question: Can you remove a swap that already has bids on it?
Scenario: You list your gameboy on Swapitshop, but realise you no longer want to sell it. You go to remove the item, and see that somebody has already bid for it. Can you withdraw the transaction?
Answer: No - Once you have listed your swap, and it has bids on it, you are not allowed to remove it. If this happens you should email swapitshop (info@swapitshop.com) and explain. They may be able to cancel the swap for you, however you may risk getting a -3 rating for this. Make sure you are certain that want to sell an item, before you list it on the site! It is not fair to let down other swappers.
